Miners Sit-Down Strike.: The stay-down pit strikers staged a six-hour sit-down strike yesterday, in the Coal Board's headquarters in London. Four hundred men from Betteshanger Colliery, Kent, had marched round and round Hobart House carrying banners protesting at the 140 redundancy notices at the pit. Then 100 of them walked into the building and camped down in Conference Room No. 16. The/refused to budge until Sir James Bowman~ Chairman of the National Coal Board, talked to them about the notices. Photo shows Kent miners seen during their sit-down strike at Hobart House yesterday.
