Designer Working On 160 Mph Hovercraft: Designers are working on hovercraft which will skim over land, sea and deserts at 160mph. Yesterday the Vickers VAI research hovercraft skimmed along the runway at South Marston, Swindon, five inches from the ground. Its speed for nearly 20 minutes was 40 mph. Photo shows a model of the Vickers VA3 hovercraft It is to be finished early next year.
