Description
A cuppa for the learned gentlemen: In Britain, everything stops for tea, even the law. In the marathon Great Train Robbery Trial, now being held at Aylesbury Assizes, it soon became obvious that the refreshment facilities at the small court could not cope with more than tea for the judge and jury, so the Under-Sheriff for the county sent an S.O.S. to the Womens Voluntary Service, pleading thirst. And of course the Ladies in Green, always ready to help a deserving cause, came to the rescue with tea at 4d a cup, and biscuits at 2d. The learned barristers were quick to pronounce their verdict - ''A Champion Cuppa'' to which the other court officials, pressmen etc. all gave their full approval. Photo shows a group of barristers enjoy a cup of tea at the W.V.S. canteen outside the courthouse at Aylesbury.
