Naomi Uemura of Japan Wins Valour In Sport Award
The annual Valour in Sport Award (known as the V.C. of Sport) was presented to Naomi Uemura of Japan, aged 37, who became the first man to reach the North Pole alone across the frozen Arctic Sea. During his career Uemura has conquered Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Co Aconcagua, Mt. McKinley, Everest, and many other summits. Each feat was accomplished alone. The ceremony tool place in the Guildhall in the City of London.
