Send Detention Centre: A glimpse of the military-style regime at the Detention Centre at Send, in Surrey, suggest that it will be difficult for the Home Secretary, Mr. Whitelaw, to impose an even tougher routine for the boys in need of "short, sharp, shook treatment. Mr. Whitelaw plans that Send, near Woking, and New Hall Senior Detention Centre for 17 to 20 years old, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire will become the two experimental centres for introducing a regime of hard manual labour done at the double. Photo shows a working part sweep road at the Send Detention Camp near Woking in Surrey.
