Description
Careless Shopping Mothers and children meet and talk in the Queen's Square, the shopping of Crawley, England, and thus underline an idea of uncongested, quiet shopping carried out in many of Britain's new towns. Crawley is one of fifteen new towns developed in Britain since World War II to disperse industry and population from overcrowded cities and to bring them together again in pleasant surroundings with services and amenities. In 1947, when it was designated under the scheme, it had a population of 10,000. Today it has grown to over 52,000 and an ultimate figure of 75,000 is estimated.

Photo measures 10.25 x 8 inches.
