The new âœMayflowerâ under construction. Replica of the original pilgrim Fathersâ Vessel â Work is progressing on the 180 ton replica of the Pilgrim Fathersâ ship Mayflower at Uphamâs Shipyard, Brixham. When completed the vessel will lease on an eight months voyage to America and will eventually be permanently berthed at Plymouth Plantation, Massachusetts, where a replica of the first Pilgrim Fathersâ settlements has been erected. The vessel is being built entirely by hand at a cost of £80,000. Research into hull form, construction and rigging has taken five years.
