Japanese Antarctic observation ship off to the ''White Continent'': The super Antartic observation ship ''Fuji'', carrying 40 Japanese scientists and 182 crew members, receieved a big send-off when she left to explore the great ''white continent''. The newly completed, 7,760-ton ice-breaker, complete with scientific instruments, and three helicopters, is the culmination of Japan's industrial and technological achievements. Photo shows relatives and friends are among the crowd as they cheer members of the ship's company as she prepares to sail from Harumi Pier in Tokyo.
