Berlin: Signal-equipments along the border waters for life-saving.
It has happened, a few times, that people, mostly children, fell into the water on the West side of Berlin, who were then drifted off to the East side of the water, where they could not saved by West-Berlin guards. Mostly it was too late, when East-Berlin officials noticed the accident. Because of these happenings, there has now been signed a live-saving agreement between the German Democratic Republic and the senate of West-Berlin. As a result of this agreement, signal-equipments have now been installed along the boarder waters, fitted out with blinkers and horns. In case of sn accident, the West Berlin guards can notify their East-Berlin colleagues quickly that their help is required to 3ave someone. In the middle of 1976, the now mobile equipments will be replaced by fastened alarm systems. Our picture: West-Berlin custom officers with tho new signal-equipment.
