3-10-66 Angry car workers go to Brighton â More than 1,000 angry car workers, mainly from the Midlands, arrived at Brighton today, where the Labour Party Conference opened. The man, many of whom had travelled to Brighton in a special train chartered for £650, marched from the station carrying banners protesting about the Government squeeze of wages. Keystone Photo Shows: Mr. Frank Cousins, leader of the Transport and General Workers Union seen (centre, with glasses), speaking with demonstrators outside the conference hall at Brighton today.
