In east-Netherlands the whole populating of the villages make a traditional track into the woods to cut down a huge tree- which is then dragged through the streets and in the local open space - is set on fire - with the aid of a tar barrel the villagers then get together for dancing and general merry me king. photo shows The tree is prepared for burning during the tester ceremonies of Holland.
