Caravan Eviction force withdraws: Police and bailiffs, who went to the caravan site at Chertsey-lane, Egham, Surrey, yesterday, to enforce a high court order to clear the unlicenced site, were withdrawn on to instruction of Judge P.L.E Rawlings. He adjourned until next Wednesday an application made at Slough Country for a stay of execution. When the bailiffs arrived, woman dragged an old caravan across the entrance to the site. During the next four hours the bailiffs brought in two tractors, a lorry and a land rover to tow the caravans away. but one by one the driver told the law:" I want move these people" and four hours after the battle began, police and bailiffs withdraw. Photo shows a tractor is unhitched from one of the caravans, after the decision not to tow them away - at Egham yesterday.
