Free Apples in Tokyo: In order to attract Tokyoites to the Yamada Hotspring resort in Nagano Prefecture, some 220 kms from Tokyo, the proprietors lined up a party of Yamada girls in their provincial costumes to hand out 30,000 apples to passers by in polythene wrapped packs containing three apples grown in the Yamada area.
