Giant Excavators Produce Lignite For "Gagarin" Thermal Power Station In Northern Hungary The "Thorez" Open Cast Coal Mine in the Matra coal fields of Northern Hungary, over-fulfilled its production plan for the past year by 325 thousand tons. The mine, which supplies the nearby "Gagarin" Thermal Power Station with 1500 calorie lignite, has joined the labour emulation drive launched by the Lang Engineering works of Budapest in honour of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Hungarian Communist Party. The huge bucket excavators mining the lignite out of the ground were made by the German Democratic Republic. Photo Shows: The MT-5 dead rock remover at the Matra coal field is moved to a new digging site.
