Description
Yannis Horn, owner, publisher and managing editor of the matchless foreign newpaper "Athens News" (circulation 30 0000 in Greece, had already struggled hard in the days of Papad~poules to keep the last opposing publication alive. He had to put up with raids and temporary shut downs as well as several prison terms. Once again Yannis Horn is provoking the military government of President Phaedron Gizikis and his ways and means are all but coming round. Since he wouldn't want to wind up in a prison camp on Jares island -where dissenters are quicker these days than they get back- he curbed his sharp words; but only to stand his ground with sparkling pranks. Only a few days before a mammoth demonstration of military force staged by the Regime on account of the 153rd anniversary of the National Independence Revolution, he published the headline "The political situation in Greece today" and continued by inserting Chinese symbols underneath. He signed with his own name - Chinese style: Ya-nih-ern. Questioned whether he thinks that President Phaedron Gizikis will have the Chinese symbols translated into Greek, Horn said: "You better ask Kissinger about that."
