Picuresque Gatun Dam is rarely seen spilling water like this, for water is one of the most critical item in the operation of the Panama Canal. During the rainy season enough water must be stored to operate throughout the 3 to 4 months of dry season. This picture was taken at the end of the rainy season when there was excess water in the lake.
