Finals of National pipesmoking championship.: The finals of Britain's first-ever National Pipesmoking Championship, took place this afternoon at the Royal Festival hall. The competition, organised by the Pipe Club of Great Britain, is sponsored by Ogden's and Bryant & May Ltd. The winner was H. Hancock, of Wollston, Nottingham , who kept a clay pipeful of tobacco slight the longest. The winner received 1000 and the St. Bruno trophy. Photo shows the winner, H. hancokcmj, who puffed away for 107 min. 58 secs - during the final today. His number, 13 - proved lucky for him.
