5.9.57 Countess Mountbatten launches replica of the "Susan Constant'. - A replica (which will never sail) of the "Susan Constant', one of the vessels which landed at Jamestown in 1607, and which will play a leading part on this year's Woolwich Searchlight Tattoo, when the Jamestown landing will be re-enacted was 'launched' this afternoon outside Woolwich Town Hall by Countess Mountbatten. A bottle of River James water, especially flown over by the U.S. Air Force was smashed across the bows of the vessels.
