Description
Frances the Pygmy Donkey: Frances, the Pygmy donkey is the latest arrival at Whipsnade zoo. She is just three weeks old and is the daughter of Jack and Jennie, pygmy donkeys from Ceylon. The Superintendent of Whipsnade chose Jacko and Jennie as the smallest donkeys offered so if Frances develops to form she will be a tiny tot all her life. Her parents are about the size of a New found land dog. Pygmy donkeys are used as beats of burden in some parts of Asia and have a reputation for being strong and spirited. Photo shows Frances is still a bit shaky on those long legs of hers. She gets plenty of petting from little visitors to Whipsnade like 3 year old William Colquhoun of London and 5 year old Celia Tilke of Stratford-n-Avon.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.

Photo is dated --none.
