Description
Operation Crossroads Africa building school for refugees: Twentyseven American and Canadian members of Operation Crossroads Africa are building a refugee school in Kurasini near Dar Es Salaam, Tanganyika. The refugees from South Africa, Mozambique, South West Africa, and Angola also help in building the school where they will be later taught various subjects by American teachers. Operation Crossroads Africa is a privately supported organization with the objective to give young Americans and Canadians the opportunity of working, living, studying, traveling, and communicating with the young people of Africa. Photo shows Annie Sherrill (21) from North Carolina College in Durham, North Carolina digging the foundation of the refugee school. With her is a refugee from South Africa. Credits: Camerapix
