Description
10-3-56 Westminster Council try out Mechanical Roadsweeper - Westminster City Council have tried out a new experiment in road cleaning. The Councils used a machine capable of removing dust and litter simultaneously, in an attempt to keep London's street clean. The machine used was designed for industrial use. It is battery powered and the driver can turn it round even on narrow pavements. Whilst its brush mechanism sweeps up litter a powerful vacuum takes up the dust. If the tests are satisfactory, a modified machine may be made for road-sweeping. Photo Shows: A road-sweeper with his broom looks on as the new machine is tried out in London.

Photo measures 6 x 8.25 inches.

Photo is dated 03-03-1956.
