10-3-64 The Feather Man - 37 year old Herluf Hansen has retired from farming because he can make a much better living out of gathering feathers. This may seem unusual, but Herluf, who lives in Denmark, has gathered 25 million feathers, of which he has pasted about 10 million all over his house. Plenty of people come to his house to see the unusual sight, and of course they pay for admission, which is how he makes a living. He has set his sights on a total of 100 million. Herluf also gives lectures on the subject of feathers, for he has become an expert he can for instance tell you that a Great Titmouse has 3011 feathers during the autumn, a Pheasant in winter has 8405, and a Lark 3496. He has been working on his subject for more than 20 years and spends most of his time counting feathers. Photo Shows: Herluf Hansen at his home in Denmark.
