19-1-59 Physical Society Exhibition of Scientific Instruments. "Teddy Bear' as a 'Baby' - The Physical Society Exhibition of Scientific Instruments and Apparatus is now in progress at the Royal Horticultural Hall, Westminster. Keystone Photo Shows: Mrs. Joan Rose of Cambridge examining a device for the investigation of faulty breathing in small babies, developed by the University Department of Anaesthetics. A tube filled with graphite is strapped across the chest which lengthens or shortens as the baby breather in and out. This changes the resistance which is recorded on an oscillograph. A "Teddy Bear' is the 'baby' for demonstration.
