The World's Highest Travelling Tower Crane Goes Into Action. A travelling building crane claimed to be the "highest travelling crane in the world" was on show giving a demonstration before beginning work helping to build three 18-storey blocks at Maida Vale, London. It was built by a French company and can left weights of up to 10 tons. Photo Shows:- A perilous job for Alan Delavigne, one of the workman, as he works on the gib of the giant crane which is 270-feet high and weighs 60-tons.
