15 Year Old Pearly King Crowned Last night a 15 year old George Hitchen was crowned Pearly King of Hoxton, to become London's youngest Pearly King. As long as he remains a bachelor, his "Queen" will be his married sister Mrs. Carole Faulkner, 18, but if he married she will "abdicate" in favour of his wife. His mother has been sewing the traditional pearl buttons on to his uniform and has not yet finished the task, when complete the uniform will have 15,000 buttons on it. Last night's coronation was carried out by the Reverend Knight of St. John's, Bethnal Green.
