Heroic Commander's Homecoming from Korea Prison: Included in a recent group of 150 released British prisoners of war to arrive home was Lt. Col. J.P. Carneo, Commander of the 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment In their heroic saving of the U.N. line on the Imjin in April, 1951. then, at the end of the battalion's four-day stand, the time came for withdrawal, Colonel Carne gave his men permission to fight their way out independently while he stay behind with the wounded and was captured. Photo shows - Lt. Col. Carne is greeted by his wife on land at Southampton, England.
