Description
A "positive action conference for peace and security in Africa" was held in Accra/Ghana from April 7th till 9th, 1960. About 250 delegates representing 25 African countries and observers from non-African countries took part in the congress where protests were made against the "nuclear imperialism" of France and the oppression of the black citizens of South Africa. Our picture shows Prime Minister of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah (Kwame Nkrumah), on the rostrum. Next to him the Secretary general of the Governments Party, Tawiah Adamafio), on extreme left the chair-man of the Congress, Kojo Botsio (Kojo Botsio), Minister of Economics in Ghana.
