Description
On the Brink of Defeat: World Boxing Council junior-lightweight champion Yoshiaki Numata of Japan, came back from the brink of defeat with an amazing fifth-round knockout win over Californian challenger Raul Rojas in Tokyo. Knocked around the ring for almost two rounds, a battered and tired Numata suddenly erupted with a blazing uppercut to the jaw that sent Rojas to the canvas for the count. Photo shows Numata is knocked down in the fourth round for a nine count by Rojas, but managed to stagger up and knock out Rojas in the fifth round. Rojas claims that Japanese referee Hiroyuki Tezaki started his counting over Numata 12 to 13 seconds late, and ordered the fight resumed.
