Freed British Diplomat Arrives Home After Being Held Hostage For 60 Days By French-Canadian Extremists. Mr. James Cross, the British diplomat, arrived back in Britain from Montreal following his release by his kidnappers, members of the Quebec Liberation Front, who had held him hostage for 60 days. Photo Shows:- James Cross greets his wife Barbara with a kiss while his daughter Sue looks on after his arrival at Heathrow Airport. Sue accompanied her father on the flight from Montreal.
