Colonel Hess of the United States Air Force Meets the Press - at Private Showing of Film "Battle Hymn"...
A private showing of the film "Battle Hymn" - the story of Colonel Dean Hess of the U.S. Air Force - was held this afternoon at the Leicester Square Theatre... The part of Colonel Hess - who is now 39 - is taken in the film by Rock Hudson... Colonel Hess has 14 battle honours and other decorations - had 63 missions in Europe and 250 in Korea to his credit... When he first dived his fighter plane - with guns blazing - over France and Germany - he was strongly rebuked by his church - and condemned by many as a cold calculating killer and a man without emotion... All royalties from the film and book he has written are going to build new orphanage in Korea...
