Nairobi Kenya. Afro American meeting: The " Strength and Weakness of US Aid to Africa" will be one of the subjects discussed at the first annual African American dialogues to be opened by President Jomo Kenyatta in Nairobi next Tuesday. Forty leading Africans and Americans , chosen by a committee "to reflect a wide range of views". will participate . They include one President. one present and one former Prime Minister . Two congressmen, two political science professors, the first American woman Ambassador to the UN and the only African woman Cabinet Minister. They will attend as individuals rather than representatives of Governments or private groups . Mr. Waldemar A.Nielsen, president of the African American Institute , which is administering the dialogue under three year grant of 175.000 dollars from the Ford Foundation . said their purpose was "to develop greater mutual understanding of Africa and America by the peoples of the two continents and to improve co-operation between them". Prime Minister Mohamed Ibrahim Egal of Somalia and President Emile Derlin Zinsou of Dahomey are expected to attend as well as Madame Sophie Lihau. a Congolese Cabinet Minister, and Mr.Robert Gardiner, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa. The American participants who include diplomats, newsmen, industrial leaders and economists, may convey to US President elect Richard Nixon an account of problems and concerns that Africans have for the future of their continent. The opening session of the five day conference by President Kenyatta will be held at the National Theatre at 10 a.m. followed by a series of meetings at the University College Council chamber.
