July 17th 1978 The Annual Swan Upping Expedition up the Thames to Henley - Swan Upping, the century-old tradition of marking Swans on the River Thames took place today when six boats set off from Blackfriars up river to Henley. Photo Shows: The Queen's Swan keeper Mr. F.J. Turk pictured marking one of the young cygnets at Richmond today.
