February 25th 1980 Yul Brynner fund to help Vietnam boy â Yul Brynner, the famous American actor, and star of âœThe King and Iâ, now on the London Palladium, has come to the aid of 11 year-old Vietnamese âœboat refugee❠Richarch Cahu, who won a scholarship to Chigwell public school next September, when he read that the boy might not be able to go as his parents could not afford the boarding fees of about £2.037 a year. So Mr. Brynner is going to pay the first yearâs fees for Richard and launch a fund for the rest. Photo shows: Richard Chau, 11, one of the Vietnamese boat people rescued by the British ship Hue Fong, thanks Yul Brynner at the London Palladium for paying the first yearâs boarding fees which will enable him to take up a scholarship at Chigwell School.
