October 21st 1977 Leyland Chairman Sir Richard Dobson resigns - British Leyland Chairman Sir Richard Dobson has resigned over remarks he made about "wogs'. The controversial words were spoken during a speech to businessmen at a private lunch. He said "Who would have thought that the Daily Mail would have the bloody nerve to bribe somebody £5,000 to reveal the documents, which turned out to be forged, in order to accuse the company of the perfectly respectable fact that it was bribing wogs?' Photo Shows: Sir Richard Dobson seen when he attended the Institute of Directors annual convention at the Royal Albert Hall last November.
