Giant Tobacco firm to Boycott the price cutters-warning comes after a day of cheap cigarettes: The imperial Tobacco Company announced last night that it will withhold supplies from any distributor who cuts the prices of its cigarettes or other tobacco goods. The announcement came after a day during which hundreds of supermarkets out up to 5d. off 5s,-5d. packets of cigarettes on still unconfirmed reports that Imperial is to abolish nosale price maintenance. But after a day of price-slashing by supermarkets the warning appeared to be too late. Shoppers at the big supermarkets queued at the cigarette counters when the reductions were announced yesterday.
