How the typists solve the ânoiseâ problem. Harley Street Physician, Sir Walter Hannay, Chairman of the Noise Abatement Society told a women public health officersâ conference yesterday âœWe may become a race of shouting maniacs if something isnât done about noiseâÂ. He said that typists working in noisy offices will in time suffer increasing deafness, and that experiments have shown that those working in noisy surroundings lose some 15% efficiency.
