Harley Street Physician, Sir Walter Hannay, Chairman of the Noise Abatement Society told a women public health officersâ conference yesterday âœWe may become a race of shouting maniacs if something isnât done about noiseâ. He said that typists working in noisy offices will in time suffer increasing deafness, and that experiments have shown that those working in noisy surroundings lose some 15% efficiency.
