1969 Press Photo Glyndebourne Traditional Survives The Heatwave

Despite the scorching temperatures, presently sweeping through Britain, traditional behavior at Glyndebourne, the home of music lovers, has not altered very much. As is the usual practice, during the dinner interval the fraternity that frequent this musical paradise, take to the spacious lawns and fields to enjoy a traditional champagne dinner, with the men clad in full evening dress and ladies likewise. Our photographer visited Glyndebourne this week, to see how the guests were coping with the heatwave. The only difference was that many of the gentlemen there could not resist the temptation to remove their jackets and in several cases to reveal braces being worn, although most manged the well in keeping bow ties on.
