Uncommon variety of hedgehog: The 'bill'-hedgehog, originating from Australia, is one of the few mammals breeding eggs and his propagation when not living at liberty is very rare. Last birth of a young one was at Berlin's Zoo, 60 years ago. The Basle zoo owns a couple since 1949. Recently a puppy was born (not shown on picture.)
