December 3rd, 1968 Hundreds homeless in Australian bush fires - Hundreds of people were rendered homeless when bush fires, described as the worst in Australia's history, swept the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Many homes were burned down in the forest hamlets of Springwood, Emu Plains, Blaxland and surrounding settlements. Photo Shows: A surgery was burnt out while the doctors were busy aiding the injured during the bush fires.
