Jan. 7th 1980 The General Assembly of the United Nations ' Mr. Porfirio Munoz Ledo, Perm. Rep. of Mexico to the United Nations requests to address the assembly after winning the contested seat of the Security Council. Mexico was the compromise candidate since neither Cuba nor Colombia could win the required two third vote.
