The Cardinal Who Arranged Abdication
Australian star Peter Finch has brought mystery, power, and colour of a 17th century cardinal to life at Pinewood during filming the story of Queen Christina of Sweden and her abdication and conversion to the Catholic faith. The film is to be called "The Abdication: and Norwegian star Liv Ullman has the role of the Queen whose involvement with Cardinal Azzolino assigned by the Pope as her spiritual adviser. Filming has already taken place in Sweden and after Pinewood moves on for final shooting at Villa Farnese and other locations in Romes. This is the second film shared by Liv Ullman and Peter Finch-they appeared together in the Lost Horizon. Dramatic settings and hug statues of nude males have been created at Pinewood because they no longer exist in Rome.
