Mr. Marples checks for Diesel Fumes. The Transport Minister Mr. Ernest Marples, was present this morning at a roadside spot check on diesel engined goods vehicles emitting excessive smoke. These checks are carried out by Ministry examiners in conjunction with the police. Photo shows: Mr. Marple checks the amount of smoke pollution from a lorry by means of a special machine connected to the exhaust pipe.
