BRITISH NAVY TROPHY FOR U.S. NAVY FLIERS Next Thursday, February 21, at Pensacola, Florida, Vice-Admiral Robert F. Elkins, R.N., of the British Joint Services Mission in Washington will present a trophy to be awarded annually to the best jet fighter student of the United States Naval Air Command. To be known as the Britannia Trophy, the annual pilots' prize is a silver model of a British Vampire fighter, first jet to perform a scheduled deck landing, mounted on a black base. It will be received by Vice-Admiral Arthur K. Doyle, U.S.N., Chief of Naval Air Training, and is designed to commemorate the cessation of an emergency scheme, started during the Korean War, for the training of 258 British Navy pilots in the U.S. Naval Air Training Command.
