Air Safety Chief Joins DC-10 Flight to Show Faith; As European airliner's DC-10s took the air again yesterday amid a growing row over the aircraft's safety. The directore of safety services at the Civil Aviation authority joined 270 passengers on a Laker Airways DC-10 flight to Crete to provide proof of his own faith in the plane. Mr. Geoffrey Chouffot said; "We are an independent authority and we go through very complex procedures before granting air worthiness certification. There will be very few i any, countries outside the U.S. who will not have their DC-10s flying again within the next 48 hours. Photo shows Among the passengers bound for a holiday in Crete was Mr. Geoffrey Chouffot, the Civil Aviation Authority's safety services Director as he gives the thumbs up sign before leaving Gatwick Airport yesterday in a DC-10.
