The chairman of the Christian Social Union does not only sue for votes in his homeland in Southern Germany, but also goes to other parts of the country to back up the candidate for the chancellorship, Helmut Kohl. In case of a victory for the Christian parties, Franz-Josef Strauss will become Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finances.
