The Reluctant peer wins his battle: Yesterday, when the Peerage Bill became law, marked the end of a long struggle by Viscount Stansgate to renounce his peerage which he inherited on the death of his father. He is now once more pain Mr.Anthony Wedgwood Benn and will be eligible to sit once more in the House of Commons. He was disqualified after being elected Member for Bristol South East because of his peerage, but Mr.St. Clair who was appointed in his place has now resigned to leave the way clear for Mr. Wedgwood Benn to be re-elected, and the Tories and Liberals have already declared that they will not contest the by-election. Photo shows Plain Mr Wedgwood Benn once again with his wife, after he had renounced his title. In the background is the famous Big Ben clock on the Houses of Parliament.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches.
