The Prime Minister Opens Britain's New Motorway: Mr. MacMillan yesterday opened the 8 1/2 mile Preston Motorway between Bamber Bridge and Broughton in Lancashire. It is the first of Britain's high-speed roads and symbol of the opening of a new era of motor travel in the United Kingdom. Photo shows Mr. Harold Macmillan, the Prime Minister, presses a button to lift the barrier and opens Britain's new motorway yesterday.
