Conciliatory moves in the Postman's strike Threat P.M.G. attends Cabinet Meting at No 10: it appears that the Government is now ready to give the postmen a bigger pay rise provided they call off the National Strike due to begin at Midnight on Saturday. First of the peace moves came at the meeting between Chancellor of the Exchequer. Mr.Maudling and Mr. Ron Smith the postmen' leader. a Cabinet meeting was held at 10. Downing Street attended by the Chancellor and among others Mr.Reginald Bevins the Postmaster General. Photo Shows Mr.Bevins arrives at No. 10. Downing street for the meeting this morning.
