4. Ilias Iliou : A former communist, he is now becoming increasingly moderate and recently announced that his splinter commist party, the united democratic left (Eda) is no longer Marxist. Ilion will be leading a coalition of five leftist parties at the next elections entitled "coalition of progressive and leftist forces". It includes the 'eurocmmunis' interior communist party, the socialist course which broke away from Mavros' center party, the socialist course which broke away from papandreou, the very small christian democrats, and of course Iliou's own party. In the last election Iliou had led a united communist platform, which took 9 percent of the vote and 9 seats in parliament. It is difficult to predict the appeal of his just formed coalition, but under no circumstances is it expected to exceeded 10 percent of the vote in the coming elections.
