R.A.F. man fights "Mental" stigma.. Regains his freedom after 3 1/2 years.: James Michael Stanton who escaped from a Mental hospital - 3 1/2 years ago learned yesterday that he was free. He escaped from Coleshill Hall since when he has joined the R.A.F. and has become a bandsman and according to R.A.F. Psychiatrists - he is "above average" mentally.. He is married and has a five months old son. He applied to the High Court yesterday for a writ to regain his freedom - and he learned that all the authorities now consider him to be same - and that his freedom should become automatic. Photo shows Bandsman James Michael Stanton - in London yesterday - when he went to the High Court to make his application.
